Envirosafe Pest Control Orlando
After the flood waters receded in greater Orlando, we were left with a plethora of Water Bugs (American Cockroaches) which were forced out of City drains and looking for new places to infest. It’s officially fall now in Central Florida. Not typically the time of year panicked home and business owners call a pest control exterminator with reports of swarming termites. Termites typically swarm in February and March in here in Central Florida. However, nothing has been normal in recent weeks for Orlando residents. Added to the hardships caused by Hurricane Irma are dozens of Envirosafe Pest Control Orlando customers calling in with reports of finding swarming termites by the hundreds in and around their Orlando homes. As most are already aware, Termites cost Florida homeowners millions of dollars in damages each year. We at Envirosafe Pest Control Orlando are not really sure why this fall termite swarming phenomenon has occurred this time of year but we suspect the hurricane and flooding it brought to our area somehow changed the environmental conditions to mimic the triggers that they swarm to in February and March. Spring swarming typically occurs on a warm sunny evening following rain showers. Seeing termite swarmers means there is a colony in our around your home. They are often the first indicator of an infestation and a warning sign that should be taken seriously. If you see anything resembling “ants with wings”, this fall, it could be swarming termites. Call our office immediately at 407-580-7124.

What's that blue stuff???
Envirosafe Pest Control Orlando has been bombarded with questions over the past couple weeks with people asking about exactly what is that blue liquid in the barrel in the back of the Envirosafe Pest Control Orlando truck. Well, the blue is an additive dye which we mix with Bora-Care to ensure unified coverage when applying Bora-Care. Bora-Care is an EPA registered Fungicide Concentrate that we use to treat wooden members in Crawl Spaces in the final step of a crawl space mold remediation project. It's hard to see what was treated when you are treating raw wood with a colorless liquid. The Bora-Care penetrates deep into the wood providing long lasting protection from fungal growth. It is the best all natural wood preservative treatment, and another treatment that we have that conforms to our membership in the EPA's Environmental Stewardship Program. Very effective for Carpenter Bee Control too.
We also use this material for new construction soil pre-treatments for termites in Orlando.

Envirosafe Termite and Pest Control finds Boxelder bugs all over a Rock Hill SC Home
This being the third weekend of February, we finally get a couple very nice sunny days in the Carolinas with temperatures nearing 60 degrees. With the warm weather, the harmless Box Elder bug comes out from the siding on the south side of homes in mass exodus. We received calls over the weekend with customers mistakenly calling these pesky little reddish orange and black insects everything from swarming termites to bedbugs.
The boxelder bug is a good example of a harmless nuisance insect.
There are many kinds of damage that box elder bugs do not cause.
If you find boxelder bugs on walls or tree trunks and want to get rid of them, boiling water is a great green approach to ridding them from your home. However, you don't want to being trying to douse the side of your house with boiling water because more often than not, the infestation will be over your head. Additionally, boiling water will kill your grass. Call Envirosafe Termite and Pest Control in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and we will handle this for you in an environmentally safe manner.
Update: Boxelder bugs have been swarming all this week (September 21, 2017) in Orlando Florida.

Jude and Michael were amazed at the numbers of box elder bugs
clustered against the outside of a Rock Hill, SC Home.
There are many kinds of damage that box elder bugs do not cause.
- They do not cause much damage to ornamental landscape plants, and rarely cause significant damage to fruit trees.
- They do not injure people or pets
- They will not feed on house plants or on your furniture.
- They don't cause structural damage to your home.
- However, boxelder bug excrement can stain curtains, furniture, or clothing, and they give off an offensive odor when they're crushed.

Cooler Weather = More Rodents
With the recent dip in temperature, I wanted to quickly give you my two cents on rodents and how to keep them away.
Rodents adore warmth, so as colder winter weather moves in (which has led to snow all over the Charlotte- Gastonia-Rock Hill area), these pesky creatures – one of mankind’s oldest and most reviled pests — are also on the move: into houses, apartments and other climate-controlled buildings searching for grease and fat, which are parts of any self-respecting rodent’s balanced winter diet.
These pests (and their furry cousins) can be extremely destructive, chewing through cables and wirings and building materials such as glass, cinder block, aluminum and lead. These varmints can enter a building through a crack as small as one-half-inch.
According to the Center for Disease Control, the Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome is a disease caused directly from rodent droppings and urine and can mimic the flu. Symptoms include fever, chills, headaches, nausea, abdominal and back pain and gastro-intestinal issues.
Here are some simple steps you can take to prevent rodent infestation that should include the following:
- Seal all food tightly and never allow food to accumulate in open containers.
- If rodent droppings are found, they should be immediately cleaned.
- Check for torn screens and loose attic vents. Seemingly insignificant openings can give rodents access to your home or business.
- Be certain that garbage can lids fit securely.
- Do not allow piles of lumber or other debris to accumulate and eliminate overgrown, weedy patches of flora. They provide attractive shelter for rodents.
Be safe, stay dry, and hope you all have a buzzing day! Envirosafe Termite and Pest Control in Tega Cay is here to serve you. Please feel free to call us and check out the links below.

Who Will be the Horsefly of the Super Bowl?
The Super Bowl match-up between the Indianapolis Colts and the New Orleans Saints poses an important question: Will the Colts feel the Saints’ sting like a horsefly they can’t shake? Or will they easily swipe them away and claim the championship?
I’m sorry fans. I have no crystal ball and can’t help you with that question. I can, however, tell you everything you ever wanted to know about the horsefly.
No groans of disappointment, please. These insects can quickly draw all your attention if they bite you – whether you’re a horse or human.
These babies hurt – and they’re among the loudest and noisiest of flies, so you can see and hear them heading your way as well. Unlike some bugs that have more of a stinger, horseflies have mandibles that rip or cut the flesh – sometimes actually taking out a chunk of skin. Once they do the damage, they lick up their victims’ blood. It won’t make you feel any better to know that the females need a blood meal to reproduce.
Here’s some more bad news: Horseflies are present around the world. And their virtue – I know, it’s hard to believe – is that they’re an important pollinator of flowers.
This’ll ring truer to you: Horseflies are also known as gadflies, a term the dictionary defines as somebody regarded as persistently annoying or irritating. We’ll find out a this weekend which team – the Colts or the Saints – better earns the distinction.
Always remember – Envirosafe Termite and Pest Control in Fort Mill SC is riding around looking for more friends on Facebook (Fort Mill Pest Control- Envirosafe)
